Do you want to be a part of this movement? Join the Gaston Controlled Substances Coalition in the fight against opioid addiction.

Volunteers

The Coalition was designed to engage many organizations and individuals because solving Gaston County’s opioid epidemic depends on community participation. We need many individuals because this epidemic is so complex – it is shaped by culture, ethnicity, and race. There are medical considerations, legal, family, and spiritual dynamics, and these issues are further complicated by the deeply addictive nature of opioids.

In addition to professionals and their organizations, we seek participation from persons who are living with opioid use disorder – individuals in active use, in treatment, in recovery, and their families and friends. We also seek to engage of other stakeholders: business leaders, clergy, teachers, and representatives of neighborhoods, schools, and elected officials.

We welcome you to join our Coalition. We invite you to join a committee, where we design and conduct our programs. The more we hear from our county’s many stakeholders, the more we will do … and do better.
